Golf
Ayrshire is a coastal county boasting spectacular scenery and some of the world's most famous links golf courses. Home to two current Open Championship courses, Royal Troon and the Ailsa course at Turnberry, Ayrshire was also home to the first ever Open Championship, played at Prestwick in 1860, and is an ideal venue for a golf break or holiday in Scotland.
Play the famous links of Ayrshire, and some pretty good courses in Renfrewshire and the south side of Glasgow too if you wish, all within such easy reach. A golfer’s paradise.
Great golfers are born here, and no wonder. Local ‘lad’ Sam Torrance is the new ambassador for golfing tourism in Scotland, as part of Scotland’s drive for the Ryder Cup 2014.
The beauty of coming to play golf here in Ayrshire and Central Scotland is that you will experience golf as it is supposed to be played - the natural environment, climate and topography has made golf in Scotland what it is today. There is nothing artificial about golf here - you will experience the best quality greens, well-maintained fairways and meet with people who are as passionate about the game as you are.
The hotel is a quite superb location and base for playing some of the finest golf courses in Scotland, all within ½ hour, some more or less on the doorstep, with world class links golf at Royal Troon, a regular venue for the British Open Golf Championship, almost adjacent. A must visit for golf breaks and holidays in Scotland, owned by a keen golfer, and a quite superb hospitality experience to complement some of the greatest golf anywhere in the world.
